THEY came in their thousands again to CBS The Green for the third annual Darkness Into Light Tralee walk and once again the weather was ideal for the event.
From just after 3am they started to arrive for the Pieta House fundraiser which has raised tens of thousands over the past two years.
Organisers say they had around 2,000 registrations online but almost double that number showed up in a tremendous display of community spirit and compassion, sharing the Pieta House vision to create a world where suicide, self-harm and stigma have been replaced by hope, self-care and acceptance.

After gathering at the school’s entrance on the Dan Spring Road, Fr Francis Nolan gave a blessing and Maureen Curtin read the Pieta House manifesto.
Aidan O’Sullivan of Darkness Into Light Tralee thanked all those who made the effort and contributed to Pieta House before Kerry Rose Breda O’Mahony cut the tape at 4.15am to set the walkers off.
They returned as light was breaking to help themselves to coffee, scones and biscuits from Kirbys Brogue Inn and MJ’s Diner who fed the masses.
A fantastic event is done for another year with tens of thousands raised again for a great cause. Scroll down for photos…
