PHOTOS: Three Nights Of Great Entertainment At Scoil Eoin Christmas Concerts

AFTER weeks of preparation, hundreds of children at Scoil Eoin in Balloonagh had a chance to show their singing, dancing and acting abilities as the annual Christmas concerts.

Taking place over three nights in the school hall there was everything from The Snowman to the Wizard of Oz, pop hits to a take on the Nativity.

Ms Burke’s junior infants displayed their talents with The Snowman, a musical drama. Ms Houlihan’s junior infants delighted the audience with ‘A King is Born’, a traditional Nativity story.

Mrs O’Sullivan’s junior infants entertained with ‘The Wriggly Nativity’. With catchy songs, movement and dance, they told the story of the First Nativity with energy and enthusiasm.

Mrs Griffin’s Senior Infants presented ‘Jungle Jingles’, where the children are singing and dancing to some jungle themed songs. Mrs O’Donoghue’s 1st class presented “Friends Forever”, singing a medley of songs from the 1960’s to 2018 chart toppers. All the songs have a common theme – Friendship.

Mrs Hill’s 1st class delighted with ‘Christmas with the Aliens where the Aliens have landed on Planet Earth and bump into some children from Scoil Eoin rehearsing for their Christmas concert.

Mrs Daly’s 2nd class display their talents with A Christmas Toy Show, a heart-warming show where we find out what happens on Christmas Eve.

Mrs McCarthy’s 3rd class entertained with the Christmas favourite The Wizard of Oz while Mrs Kennedy’s 3rd class went for a later family classic with Shrek.

Mr Farrell’s 4th class put on ‘Santa’s Social Network’ where Santa has become addicted to social media after buying the new iPhone X.

Ms Curtin’s Gaeilge Bheo presented ‘Jack explains Christmas’ as Gaeilge and Ms Foley’s 5th class dramatised “Goldilocks on Trial” – a retelling of Goldilocks and The Three Bears with a twist.

Ms Lyons’ 6th class put on “Hoodwinked” – a spin on the popular Robin Hood fairytale and Lara O’Toole and Mrs Lyons’s 6th class sang a selection of popular music and festive classics.

Mrs Meehan’s talented musicians presented a variety of tunes and some well-known Christmas tunes on concertinas and tin whistles.

Sally Ryle’s amazing orchestra entertained with ukuleles, kazoos and tambourines to play Christmas festive favourites and the talented ASD Unit presented “A Spoonful of Sugar”. It was a presentation of dance, Christmas songs and an abridged version of the show “Mary Poppins”.

The many families who attended over the three nights lapped up the entertainment and more than a few future stars were discovered. Scroll down for photos…
