TEAMS of students and staff from IT Tralee participated in the sipITT fun triathlon on Wednesday evening.
The event consisted of a 5km run, a 10km cycle and a 500m swim and over a hundred students and staff participated or volunteered as marshals on the night.
SipITT aims to improve student health and well being, increase retention and academic performance as well as reducing levels of hazardous drinking and the associated harms.

The triathlon was part of the SipITT project which aims to reduce levels of dangerous as well as improving the students general health and well being.
“IT Tralee is being proactive in its approach to reduce harmful drinking by empowering students with the knowledge and healthy alternatives to reduce their consumption,” said sipITT co-ordinator and lecturer in Health and Leisure Studies, Jackie Ruttledge.
“The sipITT project organises a variety of free events and activities including personal training, exercise classes, mindfulness, weekly massage clinic, cookery demonstrations and healthy eating talks,” said Jackie Ruttledge.
The project is in its third year and the college has seen an improvement in student retention, performance, engagement and attendance as a result. Scroll down for photos…
