THE Celebration Of Christie Hennessy Weekend kicked off last night with musicians performing at The Troubadour Club in the Rose Hotel.
Members of Christie’s family were present, including his wife Gill and brothers Oliver, Simon and Jimmy Ross, to see a great night of music from 12 artists.
Well known local man Francie Conway performed along with Mickey Harte, John Buggy, Chapter 2 and many more musicians at the well attended event.

Saturday sees a special ceremony near the statue of Christie, when the area will be dedicated the ‘Christie Hennessy Plaza’. It will take place at 4pm.
Later on Saturday, the IMRO Christie Hennessy Song Competition takes place at 8:30pm at The Rose Hotel and admission is free to all.
Ten finalists selected from over 200 entries across Ireland will perform their original songs in front of a live audience and a panel of expert judges including special guest John Spillane.
The winning songwriter will be presented with a cheque for €1,000 on the night, with the runner up collecting €300 courtesy of Tralee Credit Union. Scroll down for photos…
