THE weather certainly got people in a celebratory mood as organisations and volunteers gathered in Tralee Bay Wetlands to celebrate their hard work on Wednesday.

The event was all part of the ‘National Volunteer Week’ which is taking place this week. It encourages people to get out and involved in helping out their local community.

Organisation whose volunteers have been working hard over the past number of weeks or months took the opportunity on Wednesday to give back to those who give so much themselves with the ‘Thank You’ party.

Tralee Chamber Alliance, Enable Ireland and a whole host of other organisations were also present on the day.

TraleeToday.ie headed down to the lakeside lunch and spoke to Paula Casey, who was one of the organisers of the day, about how it was all going and what it means for the volunteers.

“Fantastic! We’ve had a great response from organisations who have been more than willing to thank their volunteers. We’ve had loads of volunteers contacting us as well to know how they can get involved,” said Paula.

“We’ve had a great turn out today! We’re so lucky today with the sunshine and the ‘Wetlands’ have been so lovely to us too. Everyone seems to be having a wonderful time and everybody is mingling. We think it’s amazing to see organisations come together and sharing stories so we can all benefit from each other,” she finished.

It certainly was a fantastic event, one with smiles all around and we’re sure this good feeling is continued on for the remainder of the ‘National Volunteer Week’.
