A BEAUTIFUL day to remember a beautiful lady.
That was the sentiment echoed by all at the Junction Bar in Camp on Saturday afternoon as a large crowd gathered in the sunshine for a charity walk to remember Betty McGrath.
A native of Ardfert but domiciled in Listowel with husband Denis Moriarty and children Grace and Denis, Betty was known to many through her florist business in the town.
Diagnosed in August of last year, she bravely battled cancer but passed away on September 14, 2021 in the Palliative Care Unit at UHK.
The family wanted to give something back after the amazing care she received and organised a charity walk which has raised over €21,000 so far on a gofundme page which is still taking donations (click here).

“It’s a very emotional day,” said Betty’s sister Antoinette. “There’s a fantastic turnout and the weather is just incredible. It’s a lovely tribute to Betty whose first anniversary is this Wednesday.”
The Moriarty and McGrath families thanked everyone for donating and taking part in the walk.
“We’re delighted with the turnout today and we’ll be forever grateful to the staff in the Palliative Care Unit,” said Betty’s daughter, Grace Moriarty.
There was also a raffle on the day for a signed Irish soccer jersey which was won by Bridie O’Connor and two bouquets of flowers went to Ria O’Sullivan and Michelle O’Sullivan after their tickets were drawn out.
Just after 12 noon, the walkers made off for Killelton Oratory on the Dingle Way where they tied a white ribbon on the holly tree there to remember a loved one.
They then went on to Bunavoonder Strand, Bunahow, Kilgobbin Church of Ireland, Camp Upper, Ashe’s Cafe, Stepping Stones, Curraduff and back to The Junction Bar for refreshments on what was a lovely, poignant day to remember Betty. Scroll down for photos…
