SIX teams competed in a special soccer blitz at the St Brendan’s Park FC pitches on Saturday with all proceeds raised going to the Adapt Kerry Women’s Refuge Centre.

Ladies representing five clubs — Park FC (two teams), Dingle Bay Rovers, LB Rovers, Mastergeeha and Ennis — took to pitches at Christy Leahy Park.

It was organised by the Park FC Women’s Social Soccer group which was formed last year, as member Karen Griffin explained.

“Kerry Sports and Recreation Partnership held a six week soccer training course for women in February of 2022 and again in Tralee in May last year.”

“We enjoyed it so much that we decided to form the club, so I approached Park FC and they couldn’t have been more welcoming. We go out once a month and we arrange games with other teams around the county,” added Karen.

It was the Mastergeeha FC ladies who won out the tournament where there was a great atmosphere and LB Rovers’ Megan O’Connor won Most Valuable Player on the day while valuable funds were raised for a great cause. Scroll down for photos…
