IT started off as a request by a girl to write a short story and it ended up as a children’s book.
Friends and family of Tralee man, Joe Enright, turned up at Tralee Library on Saturday afternoon for the launch of his second book, ‘Alana Rabbit And Friends’.
The book came about when Zyana Dowling, a granddaughter of a friend of Joe’s, asked him to write a story about a rabbit called Alana.
No sooner had Joe written one short story, the characters multiplied and he ended up with 14 which are now collected in a wonderful book with beautiful illustrations by artist Jan Drawc.
Deirdre Walsh of Radio Kerry was delighted to launch the book and said it’s perfect for children of all ages and great for short bedtime stories with lovely characters like Victor The Vole, Betty The Bat, Harry the Hedgehog and more.
Joe, from Alderwood Road, thanked Tralee Printing Works, Tralee Library, Mary Kirby of KCFE, Jan Drawc, his nephew Norman Fitzgerald for proof-reading and editing and, of course, Zyana!
The book, which was written, illustrated, produced and printed in Tralee, is available in Commane’s on Rock Street, The Kerry Book Shop on Bridge Street and Polymath on Courthouse Lane. Scroll down for photos…
