THERE was gorgeous sunshine at Tralee Bay Wetlands on Friday evening for an event to get families together on their bikes for some exercise.
The Pedal in the Park— part of National Bike Week which runs from June 10 to 18 this year — is now in its seventh year and over 120 cyclists took part at the Tralee event.
The free event, run by the Kerry Recreation and Sports Partnership, gave both young children and adults an opportunity to jointly participate in physical activity while having fun in a safe environment.

There was a party atmosphere at the Wetlands with a VideoDJ supplying the tunes while the Kingdom Party Pals and facepainting kept the young ones entertained.
There were two routes; a 4k family cycle from the Wetlands to Tralee Town Park suitable for children from 5 – 8 yr olds and an 8k cycle from to the Canal suitable for children from 9 – 14yrs.
They set off at 7pm with Chairman of Kerry Recreation and Sports Partnership, Jimmy Deenihan, leading the way and when they returned there was BBQ waiting for them.
