THE Pres girls opened their Butterfly Bank this week at the school in their aim to follow the success of their schoolmates of previous years in the ‘AIB Build A Bank’ competition.

The Dream Bank from the school won the overall national prize in 2015 and last year’s Blossom Bank came second in the competition.

“The bank was launched in the first year area for the first time this year,” said Rebecca Poultney of the group made up of Transition Year students.

“We received many bank account application forms off the 1st years who are on their journey to opening their deposit and savings account in the AIB. We have an ongoing competition of a Samsung tablet for the first 50 people to return application forms,” she said.

This week’s theme was based around “new year new name” and the bank officials had a box for all the New Years resolutions with one selected and the lucky person won a La Scala voucher.

“In the coming weeks we hope to get people to start lodging their money through our school bank and having many more great prizes and guests to the school. Our first round of the Build a Bank competition is being held at the end of March, so we are really hoping to get as many students in our school to avail of this wonderful opportunity of having a bank account,” said  Rebecca.
