TRANSITION year students of the Presentation Secondary School Tralee will explore the effects of Fluoride in a project in the ECO-UNESCO competition this year.

The students of the ‘H2OMG’ project want to raise awareness of the effects of Fluoride in drinking water, and how it affects our bodies.

The idea for the project came when the students noticed that everyone had bottles of water with them for lunch and  after reading articles warning of the dangers of fluoride in our water, they decided to do some research.

The deadline to submit a report on the project is on February 24. If the students make it through the first stage, they will make it to the Munster competition, and then on to Dublin for the Finals. The students are also hoping to start a petition to abolish fluoride in water altogether.

ECO-UNESCO is Ireland’s Environmental Education and Youth Organisation.
