SATURDAY should be a very special day in The Meadowlands Hotel, when ladies who completed their leaving certificate in Presentation Tralee back in 1966 meet again.

Anne Kelliher is the main organisers of the event and is looking forward to meeting old friends. Anne lived in nearby Moyderwell/Upper Castle Street and remembered her schooldays with fondness, saying she was well cared for by the sisters there.

Of course the current secondary school at Moyderwell did not exist back then and Anne and her schoolmates went to class upstairs in the current primary school building.

There were about 30 students in the class which Anne said was one of the last before free secondary education was introduced.

Unfortunately some students have passed on and they will be remembered at the reunion which takes place from 2pm to 5pm at the Meadowlands Hotel. Anne is hoping as many old schoolmates as possible will attend.
