Presentation Girls Keep Up The Banking Tradition

Presentation students Doireann Thomas, Rachel Kilgallen, Leah Canty, Kerry Rose 2017 Breda O’Mahony, Bronagh Foley, Orlaith O Brien, Zainab Lawal at the launch of Bank 4 Women at the school on Thursday.

THEY’VE got some record in the competition and now the next Transition Year ‘generation’ of students are vying to keep up a winning tradition in the AIB Build A Bank Challenge.

Last year The Butterfly Bank won the top prize of €5,000 at the AIB Build A Bank Challenge competition final beating off opposition from all over the country.

Now the ‘Bank 4 Women’ team are aiming to emulate their achievements with the launch of their bank last Thursday.

The AIB Build a Bank Challenge sees a team of six students selected to set up and manage a bank in their school with the full support of a dedicated AIB Student Officer.

The students get involved in everything from developing a Business Plan, branding their Bank and engaging with the community to sourcing new customers through creative marketing campaigns.

The school has an incredible record in the competition with ‘The Blossom Bank’ coming second in the national competition winning €3,000 for their school in 2016, while in 2015 ‘The Dream Bank’ from the school came first. Let’s see how the current crop gets on…
