Arthritis is actually the biggest cause of childhood disability in Ireland with 1 in a 1,000 children experiencing the condition which has symptoms such as fatigue, joint pain, fever and damage to joints.

The girls served savoury treats such as pizza, nuggets and chips as well as preparing a wide range of baked treats including brownies, cookies, buns etc.

All the baked goods were prepared by the TY students themselves and those who didn’t bake donated the savoury goods so great thanks is due to the girls for their generosity. Jasper pins were sold throughout the school also for €2.

The group continued the fundraising on Sports Day by selling ice-cream wafers at €1 – a stand that did very brisk business indeed on such a lovely fine day.

The Bakesale raised over €550 and the ice-cream during Sports Day brought the total up to €802.

Well done to all the Pres girls for giving so generously yet again for another worthy cause.  The cheque was presented to Mr. Tom Barrett of the Kerry Branch of Arthritis Ireland.
