PRESENTATION Primary School students, staff and parents were very proud to present a cheque for €1,000 to Caroline Flahive, CEO of Kerry Adolescent Counselling Services, on Friday.

The money is the proceeds of a song, ‘Fight Another Day’, which the children composed when they returned to school after lockdown.

“It was their way of expressing their thoughts and feelings about the pandemic and how it affected them,” said teacher Helena Hennessy. “The song sends a very positive message about resilience and moving forward after the unprecedented events of the past year.”

The students wanted to use their song to raise funds for mental health, as a way of giving something back to their community and chose Kerry Adolescent Counselling Services as the beneficiary of their fund-raising efforts.

They made an audio and video recording of their song and each family in Presentation School made a donation to receive the recordings.

“We’re extremely proud of our wonderful, creative and talented students, who have worked so hard to produce this beautiful song with such a strong message,” said Helena.

“It’s been a pleasure to be able to hand over this cheque to Caroline who manages such a deserving organisation. KACS do immense work with young people and depend heavily on fund-raising and donations to continue to roll out their services,” said Helena.
