Presentation Tralee Student Wins Category In Texaco Art Competition

Clodagh McCluskey’s ‘Feathers’, a category winner in this year’s Texaco Art Competition.

A TRALEE student has won a category in the 67th Texaco Children’s Art Competition.

The winners, runners-up and merit award recipients in seven different categories were announced on their website today.

Clodagh McCluskey, a 15 year old student at Presentation Secondary School Tralee, won Category B (14-15 years) for ‘Feathers’, her portrait of a rooster.

There were two other Kerry award recipients. Sixteen-years-old Ula Rupsyte from Coláiste na Sceilge, Caherciveen won a Merit Award for ‘Dorothy’s Flowers’  in Category A (16-18 years), while 12-years-old David MacAodha from Knockaclarig National School was a Merit Award winner in Category C (12-13 years) for his portrait of actor Morgan Freeman.

All of this year’s 126 winning artworks are to be exhibited at the Highlanes Gallery in Drogheda, Co. Louth from 14th September to 2nd October.
