THE two last holders of the Bishop Moynihan Cup will do battle on Sunday for what is the most mouthwatering match in the county championship so far.

Austin Stacks will face champions South Kerry who have already overcome Tralee opposition when they beat Kerins O’Rahilly’s last week in Austin Stack Park.

This week they’ll enjoy the comforts at home and welcome Stephen Stack’s side to Con Keating Park in Cahersiveen. The losers on Sunday will have one more bite of the cherry, but that fact shouldn’t take from what could feel like a do or die championship battle.

That impressive victory over O’Rahilly’s was achieved without Kerry senior panellists Mark Griffin and Brendan O’Sullivan who are expected to be fit and ready to go this weekend.

Rock manager, Stephen Stack, has had a rough time of it of late dealing with injuries that have mounted in the side. Kieran Donaghy is a doubt and Greg Horan is out for the season.

Stacks dispatched of East Kerry in the opening round by six points. Not overly impressive, the Tralee side were still able to find that extra gear to pull away from East Kerry in the final quarter.

South Kerry’s game against Strand Road was a a cracker, they someone managed to scrape a one point victory in a match where they took the lead for the first time with five minutes left on the clock.

This game could hinge on whether Kieran Donaghy is fit to play. There is a potential for a great dual between him and Mark Griffin.

Even with Donaghy this is a tough assignment on the road to a South Kerry team that would have come on a lot after that win last week.

Verdict – South Kerry by 3
