IN the month of January petrol prices dropped dramatically so much so that the cheapest price of petrol in town went from €1.28.9 per litre to €1.22.8 in a space of a month.
Since that time, the price of petrol and diesel has risen and is predicted to continue to rise.
In our monthly check, we did a round of the town on Thursday morning to compare petrol and diesel prices.
Applegreen in Manor Village still remains the cheapest to buy petrol in town at a price of €1.26.8 per litre.
Though since that time, the price of petrol in the other Applegreen station in Fairies Cross has gone up to €1.29.8 per litre.
The second cheapest spot in town, after Applegreen Manor Village, is Top in the Horan Centre which is only fractionally less at a price of €1.26.9 per litre.
Five stations in town have an identical price of €1.29.9.
The price of petrol has risen nationally to an average of €1.28.4 for petrol and €1.22.4 for diesel so Tralee remians one of the cheaper towns to fill up.
The AA who monitor fuel prices have predicted that this is a trend that will continue so now might be the time to fill up your tank.
