Profits Up But Passenger Numbers Down At Kerry Airport In 2014

kerry airportKERRY Airport showed an operating profit after taxation of €18,895 in 2014 according to its annual report and accounts issued today.

This is an increase on Operating Profit of €4,161 for the year ended to 31st December 2013.

However, passenger numbers through the Airport fell 4% on previous comparative period to 295,251 passengers, mainly due to airline consolidation over the period.

Growth on the Dublin route of +13.5% was a positive note for the year and passenger numbers for 2015 so far shows a +10% growth year to date.

Turnover is down -4% from €6.3m to €6.0m.  Administration costs are down -2.5% from €4.6m to €4.4m, mainly as a result of cost efficiencies.

€304k was spent during the year on areas of Safety & Security including upgraded security facilities, additional Air Traffic monitoring and navigation equipment and the completion of recent Runway developments.

Commenting on the financials and the on-going operations of the Airport for the year, Mr. Denis Cregan, Chairman of Kerry Airport said; “2014 was noteworthy for the successful renegotiation of the PSO (Public Service Obligation) contract on the Kerry-Dublin route for 2015-2018. We are conscious of our mission to increase inward traffic to the Region and are actively seeking new route opportunities to the UK and Germany with both our partners and new potential airlines.”
