The Welcoming Project with Catherine Young Dance will curate a new dance film inspired by the African proverb ‘It takes a Village’ that stresses the importance of coming together as a community to support one another.

Choreographed by Eilise Sullivan, who has danced with The Welcoming Project since inception and scored by Music Director Martin Scharer with music from the original show, this new film captures the essence and beauty of this community in Kerry, sharing their talents and thoughts and stressing the importance of coming together to be hopeful and resilient in darker times.

In Listowel, St John’s Theatre will host a series of outdoor arts performance events in glamping pods to include theatre, music and comedy. The pods will be set up in Listowel Town Park and audiences can experience a variety of live arts entertainment.

The Fanzini Brothers return with a performance at Killarney House and Gardens. In Fanzinis Impossible Circus, Guido and Ronaldo return from Covid lockdown in Italy to their spiritual homeland of Kerry in a triumphant homecoming celebration.

The Rose Hotel in Tralee will host a poetry event, while the Carnegie in Kenmare will host a virtual #KenmareSessions.

Kerry Writers’ Museum will celebrate an evening of culture in the Square Listowel with storytellers, musicians and singers, while Afro Trad Ireland will perform at St Mary’s Church of Ireland Killarney.

Killarney Lake Tours will launch the MV Pride of the Lakes, on Lough Leane with live traditional music onboard.

Kerry’s Youth Groups will be very much involved in Culture Night 2021, from Theatrix in Listowel, to the Youth Movement Group in Killarney and Maine Valley Family Resource to St John of God at the Kerry County Museum.

Mayor of Kerry Cllr Jimmy Moloney is delighted to see the recovery of the arts sector in Kerry, connecting with people in new ways.

“Culture Night in Kerry offers us a very unique opportunity to showcase the wonderful talent in terms of music, dance, art, comedy and much more,” he said.

“I would encourage the people of Kerry to get involved in one of the 30 plus free events across the county and support the artists who are emerging back into live performance after a pandemic that was particularly devastating to the arts community”.

Under covid guidelines, many events will have to be pre-booked and times will be announced later. For further details see www.culturenight.ie
