A PROTEST to support the Black Lives Matter movement has been organised for this Sunday from 2pm to 4pm in The Square.
The protest will be a peaceful one with participants urged to stand in solidarity with anyone affected by racism in society.
It’s also a protest against direct provision in Ireland and calls for an end to Chinese detention centres for the Uyghurs muslim people in Xinjiang and repression in other regions.
People are encouraged to make their own banners. Masks and social distancing will be mandatory at the protest.

I previously lived in New York and London I moved back to Kerry tot get away from this sort of thing… This is south West a Rural Ireland this has nothing to do with us and once this starts it will only get worse.. The article above specifically mentions direct provision centres housing mainly illegal economic migrants. If there centre are closed they will have to be given local housing and rent allowances and directly compete with Irish and legal immigrants for accommodation hence causing more homelessness.
Uyghurs Muslim people are also referenced.
