MEMBERS of the public are being asked for their opinions on the plans for a new 3km greenway route on which work is scheduled to start in the new year.

A planning application has been lodged by Kerry County Council for a 3km greenway from the Town Park to Blennerville, which is part of plans by the Tralee Active Travel Town initiative which also plans to have a 6km cycleway from the Forge Cross to Blennerville, as well as plans for the pedestrianising the Mall and two-way traffic on Denny Street.

The 3km greenway will begin in on the Neil Armstrong Way in the Town Park, through to Siamsa Tire, where the there metre wide trail will then head off by the old Town Council building towards the Aquadome, then back across via the entrance to the Wetlands and back to the Dingle road, crossing over to the walkway by the Marina, along the bank of the canal to Blennerville Bridge.

The public are being asked to make submissions on the project to Kerry County Council before October 30. The plans are currently on display in Kerry County Council until October 16.
