Quinlans Bar.

QUINLANS Bar on Bridge Street was sold recently and it is believed the owners have plans to reopen it again as a public house.

Jim Finucane Auctioneers handled the sale before Christmas and TraleeToday.ie understands the new owners have a family connection to the O’Connor family who ran the bar for many years.

We also understand there are plans to operate a bar there again, but the timeframe for that reopening is not known.

The iconic bar, which has been closed for the past few years, previously only opened during the daytime, closing at 6pm. It enjoyed a roaring trade when the mart was located in the town centre, before it moved to Mounthawk in the 1990s.

Up to the time of its closure, Quinlans was one of the few town centre pubs which hadn’t changed its decor in decades, retaining its old world charm and intimate snugs.

Hopefully the new owners keep it exactly as it is – it’s a gem and an institution in itself – a landmark building in Tralee with a great history
