THEIR voices are already renowned around the county of Kerry, but now it’s the appearance of four Radio Kerry presenters that will come under the spotlight after they signed up to take part in Recovery Haven Kerry’s ‘100 Men/€100 Movember Challenge.’

Big-hearted radio stars Brendan Fuller, Andre Morrissey, Jerry O’Sullivan and John Drummey have all agreed to be part of the mega fundraiser currently being organised by the cancer support charity, which is now very close to hitting its target of recruiting 100 men to raise €100 each for the cause.

On hearing about the novel fundraising project, the four lads decided to do their bit to help Recovery Haven and so will be sporting impressive beards between now and  the group shave off at The Rose Hotel on November 29, which will be overseen by the team at Sean Taaffe Hair and Beauty.

Speaking about their involvement, John explained that a very close friend of his availed of the services of Recovery Haven before beginning her cancer treatment, and found huge comfort there  – her experience encouraging John to do his bit to raise vital funds for the service.

Getting his Radio Kerry colleagues to join him was an added bonus, which he hopes will raise even more awareness not only of this novel fundraising initiative, but of cancer and general men’s health.

“I thought if we’re going to do this, let’s do it properly and make it as high profile as possible, because it’s such a big deal – and I thought they don’t get much higher  in profile than Jerry, Andrew and Brendan who are very well known throughout the county,” John said. “I just felt that between the four of us we could have a bit of craic as well.”

The fundraising idea is the brainchild of well-known Tralee man Junior Locke, who is keen to involve both individuals and businesses across the county to take part.

Thanking the Radio Kerry foursome for their support, Recovery Haven PR & Marketing Officer Marisa Reidy said their involvement was a huge vote of confidence for the charity.

“Having the lads take part in this fundraiser is a privilege for us as these are four really well known personalities in Kerry  whose involvement will help hugely in spreading awareness of Recovery Haven Kerry and the work we do,” she said.

Marisa also said that the charity has been truly overwhelmed by the ‘incredible’ reaction of the men of Kerry to the challenge, with over 90 already signed up to take part.

However, anyone else still interested in signing up can register with Recovery Haven Kerry and get their sponsorship card – after which the beard and moustache growing can commence! To register your details contact 066-7192122 or email marisa@recoveryhavenkerry.com.
