Ray Darcy (inset) broke down when he interviewed Joe Flynn (seen here with daughter Bernie, granddaughter Caitlin and wife Breda) on his RTE radio show yesterday.
RTE Radio and TV host, Ray Darcy got very emotional on air yesterday, as he listened to a Tralee man’s story of terminal illness.
Joe Flynn from Rahoonane was invited to appear on the show with his daughters Bernie and Joanne, after Bernie sent in an email telling Ray about her dad’s positive mental state in the face of being told by doctors in August that the had between three and five months to live.

We talked to Joe a few weeks ago about his battle with cancer and hundreds of messages of support were posted on Facebook for Joe and his family (read our interview here).
During the RTE interview, the host’s voice sounded full of emotion, especially after hearing that Joe will be giving Joanne away at her wedding next Thursday and about Bernie’s pregnancy.
“I’m finding it hard…I shouldn’t be crying,” Ray is heard saying.
