Launching Recovery Haven’s Evening of Sporting Greats which takes place at Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Friday, November 30th are hotel manager Jonathan Collins, Dermot Crowley Recovery Haven, event MC Billy Keane and Philomena Stack, Recovery Haven.

GAA greats Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh and Aiden O’Mahony; horse racing guru Ted Walsh and Ireland’s women’s rugby captain Ciara Griffin are among the sporting personalities who will line out in support of Recovery Haven Kerry later this month.

The cancer support charity has teamed up with well-known journalist and sports writer, Billy Keane from Listowel to host ‘An Evening of Sporting Greats’ at Tralee’s Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Friday night, November 30th.

Billy will MC a panel of well-known sports personalities, chatting to them about their life and career highs and lows, with some audience interaction also planned by way of a Q&A session from the floor.

The charity is thrilled to secure the support of such high profile personalities as Micheál, Aiden Ted and Ciara, with even more well-known stars expected to join the bill in the coming weeks.

Recovery Haven PR & Marketing officer Marisa Reidy says that everyone at the charity is honoured to have such renowned sporting names take part in the fundraiser, and also paid tribute to event MC Billy Keane, who she said has been a huge support to Recovery Haven since it first opened its doors.

“From the minute we approached Billy about doing this he was on board, and we really appreciate that because we know he is asked to do this kind of thing a lot,” she said, “And to have people like Micheál, Ted, Aiden and Ciara take time out of their busy schedules to do this for us is really humbling.”

Marisa said that organisers are still in talks with a number of other exciting Irish sports stars, who she is confident will be added to the bill once scheduling can be confirmed.

The event promises to be a wonderful occasion for sports fans of all disciplines, with some great banter guaranteed with Billy at the helm. There will also be some great sports-related items up for auction.

The aim of the night, of course, is to raise much needed funds for Recovery Haven, which delivers free, non- medical therapeutic services to those who are experiencing cancer, their families and carers at their Tralee base, as well as their outreach services in Killarney and Killorglin.

“With absolutely no State funding, we rely solely on donations and fundraising events to help us meet our annual operating costs of over €150,000, so we really want to make our sports night in November a truly memorable one,” Marisa said.

Tickets, priced at €20, will be available from Recovery Haven from this Friday (066 7192122).
