Mike O’Halloran watched the Under 17 Bank of Ireland Celtic Challenge match between Kerry and North Cork on Wednesday night in Crotta O’Neills pitch…

Kerry 4-17

Cork North 2-10

.

Played in brilliant sunshine in the beautiful sod of Crotta O’Neills new pitch in Dromakee, Kerry led from start to finish after Jack Sheehan pointed on five minute.

Kerry led by five points to two on fifteen minutes with points coming from David Godley, Nathan Guiren, Colin Walsh and Dillon Moriarty.

Nathan Guiren was to add three more points before halftime, Jack Sheehan and Colin Healy added one each. The halftime score was Cork North 0-07 Kerry 0-10.

Colin Walsh seemed to have put Kerry well on the road to victory when he shot to the net early in the second half, only for Cork North to strike back with a goal almost immediately from the stick of Oran O’Connell.

Conor Griffin, who was class all evening for Cork North, added a point to reduce the Kerry lead to two points.

Nathan Guiren made it 1-11 to 1-08 to quell the Cork North comeback. That comeback was buried when Jack Sheehan rattled the net. David Godley followed with a point as did Nathan Guiren and Godley again.

On 50 minutes Colin Walsh had his second goal, Nathan Guiren added another goal towards the end. Cork North were gallant in defeat but it must be said that Kerry were on top in most positions on the pitch.
