Mike O’Halloran was in Thurles yesterday to see a Kerry team rack up an impressive score in the Under 21 All-Ireland B Quarter Final…
Kerry 7-22
Donegal 1-4
A handful of supporters from Kerry witnessed a comprehensive win for the Under 21 hurlers, in the All Ireland B 1/4 final, played in Thurles on Saturday.
Apparently, Donegal were not prepared to travel to Kerry for this game and agreed to play in Thurles. Their fears of a comprehensive defeat may have been their reason for not travelling to Tralee.
The defeat came anyway, with the Kerry boys completely out playing Donegal in all aspects of the game.

Kerry led on a scoreline of 5-11 to 0-2 at halftime, all the Kerry scores coming from play.
Philip Lucid had two goals, as did Michael O’Leary. Two more goals and eleven points followed in the second half. The second goal of the second half was a thing of beauty, a beautiful lifted lob by Jordan Conway, the Crotta O’Neills forward.
This game was of very little value to Kerry. They learned nothing from it, as for Donegal, it is an absolute shame that any hurler, should have to play in a game like this with no chance of winning.
It is all very well to say that you learn a lot from playing the better teams. To my mind there is little to be gained from being demoralised in this fashion.
An aspect of the day that cheered me, was the fantastic respectful support the Donegal fans gave to their team.
