Looking back at some of the news stories we covered from March this year…

• In what was unfortunately not a sign of things to come in the All-Ireland six months later, Kerry defeated Dublin in the National League by 0-15 to 1-10 at a very wintry Fitzgerald Stadium. CLICK HERE

• A father and son were lucky to escape serious injury or worse, when two large sandbags smashed into the windscreen of their truck and into the top of the cab, while travelling under the overpass on the Tralee/Killarney Road a few miles from Farranfore. CLICK HERE

• The GAA world was shocked when Paul Galvin dramatically returned to Kerry senior football having called time on his county playing career 13 months previous. CLICK HERE 

• Tralee jockey Bryan Cooper had a winner at Cheltenham. The 22-year-old claimed victory on Don Poli in the RSA Chase at a price of 13/8 CLICK HERE

• Town buildings went green for St Patricks Day as part of an initiative between Tralee Chamber Alliance and Kerry County Council CLICK HERE

• Thousands of people turned out in the glorious sunshine in Tralee to watch the annual St Patrick’s Day parade in what many described as one of the biggest crowds ever for the March event CLICK HERE

• Darragh O’Se stepped down as Kerry U21 manager after fifth straight defeat to Cork in the competition CLICK HERE 

• Tralee reacts to the much-anticipated ‘Solar Eclipse’ that turned out to be a total anti climax because of typical Irish weather CLICK HERE

• It was revealed by Chairman of the Kerry County Board, Pat O’Sullivan, that work  on Austin Stack Park,  is set to cost between €750,000 to €800,000, according to the Chairman .

He said the GAA have half the money and he will be meeting members of Tralee Chamber Alliance and Tralee area councillors on Tuesday afternoon about fundraising for the rest of the project. CLICK HERE

• CLLR John Brassil was selected to be the Fianna Fail candidate for the Kerry constituency at the next General Election.

He was elected at the Fianna Fail convention back in March. CLICK HERE

• A TRALEE man was just half a block away from the explosion in New York when fire engulfed two buildings causing them to collapse.

There were 19 casualties in the incident – which is suspected to have been caused by a gas leak – four serious with one person reported missing.

Watching it all unfold was Tralee man, Ashley Raymond, who lives and works on the Manhattan street where it all happened. CLICK HERE

• TRALEE was been named in TripAdvisor’s ‘Top Ten’ destinations to visit in Ireland according to the annual Travellers’ Choice Awards.

Tralee came in at No.10 with both Killarney and Dingle making their way into the top three on the list. CLICK HERE
