IF the soccer doesn’t interest you tomorrow evening, then why not take a trip down memory lane with the launch of a new photo book featuring some well-known local faces.

Tralee photographer, John Cleary, has spent the past year trawling through his archive of images from the 1980s and has compiled them in a new book, ‘T’was Only Like Yesterday’, to be launched by Radio Kerry’s Deirdre Walsh in the Imperial Hotel at 7.30pm on Tuesday night.

The book contains photos from all over Kerry, but John’s native Tralee will feature prominently with images from the world of sport, politics and social life in the town.

It follows on from John’s last book, ‘Through The Lens’ released last October which proved hugely popular and featured images mainly taken in the 1970s.

The new one is bound to be another great success and no doubt mammies and daddies of a certain vintage will see it in their Christmas stocking this year. Call down for the launch and get your copy signed by John…and you’ll still make the second half of the match!

In Tralee, the book is available from O’Mahony’s, Polymath and the Kerry Book Shop, Clearys Photography on Russell Street and the Quality Framing Company on Matt Talbot Road. It is priced €20.
