Roger Harty: Music – A Window To Our Souls

rsz_roger_hartyIF I was to give an analogy, then I think a very good one would be that of food.

Without doubt many people have a love for convenience food, whether it be takeaway burgers and chips or tasty snacks like pizzas, chocolate bars and crisps (AKA junk food).

They may give short term satisfaction but we all know that there is no real nutrition in it. I, just like every other human being am exposed to this challenge of modern day living, so to help me on this journey towards healthy eating habits I often pose the simple question – I may like it (junk food) but does it like me?

In other words – Is the food good and nutritionally beneficial for my body?

A similar approach can be taken for Music.

Is the sound of the music of a frequency that is beneficial to our bodies?

Words, music, our consciousness, our body, indeed the entire universe is nothing more than vibration of energy. The rate this energy vibrates is called the frequency.

A good question to ask is – How do you feel having listened to the sound of the music?

I’m not trying to be a killjoy here, but I’m suggesting that even though we might like modern ‘popular’ music just in the same way that we may be stimulated short term by fast food, the real question is not whether I like it, but whether it is good for me?

Just like the renaissance in art, there is no doubt that there was a classical era of music, generally covering an era roughly from 1730 to 1820. This included great composers like Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Vivaldi amongst others.

There can be great benefits from listening to good quality music;

1. Brain boost

2. Healing properties

3. Stress-relief and mood changer

4. Sleep benefit

5. Physical push.

There is no doubt that listening to good quality music is of benefit to us, especially even for the sleep gain alone.

I would regard listening to classical music as being beneficial to our health and well-being in the same way that I would recommend nutritious organic vegetables and greens as being essential for healthy living.

Of course there are many other genres of music that are of benefit to us. It really is great to invigorate the soul. I once had a music teacher who gave great credence to the music of the Swedish ‘pop group’ ABBA saying that the quality of sound that their music generated gave a feeling of wellbeing similar to that of listening to the classics.

In fact the song ‘Dancing Queen’ by ABBA is regarded as being the best ‘pop song’ ever. So ‘thank you for the music’ ABBA.

Music can certainly have many healing properties. In energy terms there are 7 Chakras (energy vortexes) in the body and each individual Chakra receives its healing power using a unique frequency for that particular Chakra.

The great John Lennon was also a great believer and practitioner of the healing power of music. He recognised that the music frequency of 528 Hz was of particular benefit to our planet.

This 528 Hz frequency is used by an increasing number of recording artists, including famous ones like Paul McCartney, that resonates “the energy of love, peace, and health” versus the current imposed “standard tuning” that research indicates generates “fear, stress, and disease.”

The song ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon, that has captured the ‘Imagination’ of the whole world was recorded using the unique frequency of 528 Hz.

Next week I am going to write about – The way we communicate
