Roger Harty: Shakespeare Got It Right!

.

AT the risk of being accused of repeating myself ad nauseam, I’m going to say it one more time.

To find solutions to the deeper aspects of life it is far better to ask the right questions rather than looking for the right answers.

To this end Shakespeare was spot on when he posed his famous quote; “To be or not to be, that is the question.”

So what exactly was the question he was asking? To be or not to be ?

What did he mean by this? Could it perchance be the eternal question of whether we should live our lives in the present moment (To Be!), or worrying about the past or anxious about the future i.e. not in the present moment (Not To BE!)

He was simply posing the perfect question that had the potential to unlock the holy grail of how to lead a happy and fulfilling life.

The question – which I have said above is the most important part should now position us perfectly to get the right answer.

The answer I believe came circa 1,500 years previously from Jesus Christ when He revealed to us exactly the correct answer when He said “I am (is) the way”.

Shakepeare had his answer from the highest source!

He was telling us in very plain language that living in the present (I Am) is the way. A very important point to note here is that I use the term language  ( I didn’t use the term English).

This is important in my view because, to the best of my knowledge, Jesus spoke in Hebrew which (through the medium of The Bible) was then translated into Greek, then into Latin and finally into English and many other languages.

This therefore allows the possibility of the true message being lost in translation. Essentially, I believe what Jesus was telling us was to truly live in the present.

Why? Because living in the present works!!! Hundreds of millions of people all around the world practice meditation in some form or other.

It works because it is the truth and it is the truth because it works. So this is the answer to Shakespeare’s eternal question – The answer is ‘To Be’.

That is why mindfulness is popular all over the world, because it is connecting us with the true way to achieve happiness.

That is why books like ‘The Power of Now’ by Eckhart Tolle have sold over 30 Million copies because it connects us with The Truth.

If something is true it doesn’t matter ultimately who tells you. For instance 2+2=4. No matter who tells us this first, it still holds true.

However like the original composer of a song, I like to give credit to the original source of the message, Jesus Christ.

Next week I am going to write about -‘Smile and the world smiles with you, Weep and you weep alone’.
