FOR people of a certain age, the ‘Beat On The Street’ events were one of the highlights of the summer with thousands of people on Denny Street to “dance to the latest chart hits”.

This was back in the late 80s and early 90s and top DJs and fledgling boybands strutted their stuff for the masses.

One-time Radio Kerry DJ, John Drummey was one of the people on stage around that time and the current Communications Manager of the Rose of Tralee Festival will reprise his DJ skills on Sunday night on the Denny Street Stage to mark the 60th anniversary of the festival.

John is promising to play the best hits from over the decades in the company of some of the Roses on the stage from 8pm to 9.30pm creating a party atmosphere on the street.

There should be a big crowd present as Aslan will be taking to the stage soon after. The legendary Irish band are always a big draw due to their energetic live shows and are sure to play all the hits from over three decades in the business. And, of course, the best thing is that it’s all FREE!
