THERE will be no ticketed concerts in the Square this year during the Rose of Tralee International Festival.

Last year there was much criticism — especially on social media — of the paid-for concerts in the Square, where acts like Nathan Carter and Hometown performed and locals without tickets did not have access to the area for a period of the night.

This year though, there will be no such problems as all the street entertainment in the town centre will be free with a great variety of music on the Denny Street stage and in The Square.

Family Town will once again create daytime fun and games for the children in the Town Park while evening entertainment will feature a feast of music and dancing in the streets to music of all tastes from Swing to Trad to Rock ‘n’ Pop. Ticketed events will take place in the Dome.

Festival-goers who wish to enjoy a party night with the Roses in the Dome can go to a Celebration of Roses hosted by Marty Morrissey on Thursday, August 17.

The highlight of the night will be the announcement of the names of the first 16 Roses to have qualified to appear on the TV Rose Selections on RTÉ on Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd August.

Tickets to the Celebration of Roses, The Rose of Tralee Fashion Show, TV Selection Nights, Nathan Carter Cabaret Show, Ronan Collins Cabaret Show and Pat Shortt’s How’s Tings Comedy Show and Late Night Dome Discos are all available from www.roseoftralee.ie.

The Festival will take place from Wednesday, August 16 to Tuesday, August 22 and festival-goers can look forward to a week of free entertainment in the town centre with extra “Entertainment Zones” continuously filled with world-class street performers of varying styles and visuals.

As always, everyone can look forward to enjoying the three parades, two spectacular fireworks displays and so much more. Check out www.roseoftralee.ie for more.
