THE current Rose of Tralee, has paid tribute to a little girl from Kilkenny, who has passed away after battling a brain tumour for the past few years.

Elysha Brennan, who has herself battled against cancer in the past, went on her Rose of Tralee Facebook page today to express her sadness at the death of five-year-old Searlait Tywang from Castlecomer, who was a patient in Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

Elysha updated her profile photo to the one taken with Searlait in tribute to her and her thoughts and prayers were with the Tywang family in Kilkenny at this time.

“Back in October I was asked by Aoibheann’s pink tie to come meet a little girl called Searlait,” read  Elysha’s post on her page. “Little did I know that I was about to meet one of the most brave, beautiful and bright stars that ever walked this earth.”

“Searlait you brought joy and happiness into everyone’s life who was privileged enough to have met you. A beaming ray of sunshine and light. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to share a smile with you, you have left a mark on my life and touched my heart so deeply and that is where I will carry you forever,” she continued.

“Some people come into our lives, leave footprints on our hearts and we are never ever the same. May you forever be smiling Searlait, sleep tight xx,” she said.
