THE Rose of Tralee International Festival is to receive €30,000 in funding from Fáilte Ireland next year.

Funding for the Festival had been cut to €15,000 in 2017, a move heavily criticised at the time by Rose of Tralee International Festival CEO, Anthony O’Gara.

Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin,  announced the funding today.

“I’m glad to announce that the Rose of Tralee Festival will be receiving €30k in funding from my Department through Fáilte Ireland in 2018, a doubling of the money it received in 2017,” read the statement.

“The festival will be receiving €15k as part of the 2018 National Festivals and Events Programme and an additional €15k to pilot a new project to encourage more visitors from the Irish diaspora.”

“This funding increase is a positive step in the right direction for a very important festival with a significant economic and cultural impact in Kerry and in our diaspora communities around the world.”
