ROSE of Tralee Jennifer Byrne will join the Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Norma Foley, to switch on the Christmas Lights in Tralee in The Square from 4.30pm this Saturday.

Fresh from winning the award for being Ireland’s Most Enterprising Town and receiving the Purple Flag for being a safe, vibrant, night-time economy, the occasion will certainly give everyone a chance to celebrate in Tralee.

The event, which will coincide with the end of the town centre transformation project, will signal the start of the annual Christmas Spraoi in Tralee when the town comes to life for the festive season.

Tralee will be lit-up in full colour following two another traditional family-fun event in the town centre earlier in the afternoon – the Annual CH Christmas Santa Parade on the Mall at 2pm, organised by the team at CH Chemist.

The Christmas Spraoi in Tralee will feature over a month of free parking periods, shopping, dining and independently organised events including panto, fireworks displays, entertainment and lots of party nights.

The President of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Aidan Kelly, said: “Our message is clear – support local businesses when spending money on gifts or entertainment this Christmas. There isn’t a retailer, hotelier, restaurateur, publican, or attraction provider in Tralee who won’t go the extra mile to ensure that the Christmas experience for locals and visitors is the most memorable ever. The business community in Tralee, from the town centre to Manor West Retail Park, will push the boat (or sleigh) out to meet the needs of shoppers and party-goers throughout the festive season. Tralee is the perfect destination for shopping trips offering a range of major brands, individual family owned stores, with free parking and hundreds of dining options.”

Tralee Chamber Alliance particularly welcomes the recent decision by councillors in Tralee Municipal District to offer free on-street parking and in council carparks from 1pm daily commencing on Monday, December 4 and continuing until January 7.

The Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Norma Foley, said: “We realise that this is a crucial time of year for retailers while the provision of free parking offers shoppers another great reason to spend money in Tralee. Kerry County Council and Tralee Chamber Alliance are asking motorists to park responsibly in town.”

Some highlights from the Christmas Spraoi in Tralee throughout December will include the Santa 5k Fun Run on Sunday 10th December and the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Display at 7pm on Denny Street on Sunday 31st December.

The Christmas Spraoi in Tralee Calendar is currently being delivered to every home in Tralee, Listowel and Castleisland and it is currently available in many shops, hotels and restaurants in Tralee.
