VOLUNTEERS have been the life-blood of the Rose of Tralee International Festival since 1959 and new recruits are being sought to help co-ordinate and marshal the multitude of events planned for this year’s extended Festival from August 17th – 23rd.

The general public would not enjoy the parades, fireworks displays, live music and street entertainment without the presence of these dedicated  volunteers.

Rose of Tralee, Elysha Brennan, made it a point to thank the current volunteer panel and encourage new personnel to join a great team of people who work tirelessly to make the Festival a success each year.

Volunteers must have enthusiasm, commitment, and a willingness to help the Festival in its celebrations especially with this year’s exciting program free and affordable events

The Event Controller, Bryan Carr, said: “Volunteers are vital to the successful running of this major event. They are the real VIPs who are dedicated to ensuring that the Festival runs smoothly for the enjoyment of all. Anyone who signs-up, for a few days or a few hours throughout the week of the Festival, will get an opportunity to gain first-hand experience working on a large international Festival that has such a rich and celebrated history.”

All volunteers must be over 18 and will receive health and safety training before being included in one of the many teams who specialize in crowd control, communications, Customer Service and event management.

In addition to being kitted out in a team uniform, the volunteers will have access to meals while on their breaks and a chance to win the Volunteer of the Festival Award.

Part-time volunteers will be required to cover a minimum of four 4-hour shifts while full-time volunteers who cover a minimum of eight 4-hour shifts will receive some extra goodies including free tickets to events.

Kerry Volunteer Centre, who play a vital role in supporting Volunteers and organisations in Kerry, will also assist in the recruitment process

If you would like to be part of the event please contact the Festival office by phone 066 7121322 or download the online volunteering form at www.roseoftralee.ie or email volunteers@roseoftralee.ie
