Eibhlin and Dick Henggeler are throwing a Thanksgiving feast.

WHILE we’re not big on celebrating the US holiday that is Thanksgiving this side of the Atlantic, but we might make an exception for this soirée in a couple of weeks time.

Dick and Eileen Henggeler are throwing a party on Thursday, November 24, and it looks like a mouth-watering event. They are inviting people to celebrate an authentic Thanksgiving, family-style at The Rose Hotel, which the couple own.

Beginning at 6pm, guests will be welcomed with a traditional Thanksgiving hot punch to warm up cold November hands.

Following this, guests will be treated to a delicious Thanksgiving feast created by executive head chef, Odran Lucey and his team. The Thanksgiving dinner includes all the favourites such as a traditional turkey along with some of Eibhlin’s own Thanksgiving recipes including creamy mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, maple glazed carrots, Bourbon pecan sweet potato casserole, Swiss cheese corn bake, cranberry relish, and stuffing.

Traditional Thanksgiving desserts will include pumpkin pie, pecan pie with ice cream and frosted carrot cake.

Feeling suitably thankful following the meal, guests can retire to the warm and intimate surroundings of Dott’s Bar to relax and spend quality time with friends and family.

For Americans, Thanksgiving is one of the most cherished holidays. It is a time when people travel hundreds of miles to spend time with their family with the highlight being a traditional dinner consisting of all the family favourites.

As an Irish American family, Dick and Eibhlin have always embraced both cultures and this year they want to bring their Thanksgiving tradition to Tralee.

The Rose Hotel Thanksgiving dinner requires pre-booking and is available at €25 per person and can be booked directly with the hotel at 066 7199100 or email sales@therosehotel.com.  For more information on thanksgiving and all other packages visit www.therosehotel.com
