TRALEE Rotary Club raised €2,650 for the Kerry branch of Enable Ireland and its assisted technologies programme.

The Rotary club raised money by hosting their annual ball in the Ballyseede Castle Hotel in November, with all proceeds going to Enable Ireland.

“We were approached by Enable Ireland and we went up to their visitor centre,” said Derry O’Sullivan, President of the Rotary Club.

“While there, they showed us what they do and where the money raised would be going. We were told that all the money raised would be staying in Kerry so we were especially delighted to help with that aspect,” said Derry.

Tralee Rotary Club is a volunteer organisation that raises money for charities and worthy causes in the community.

“We applied to Tralee Rotary Club to fund some of the assisted technology we needed for our Kerry services,” said Sean Scally of Enable Ireland.

“An example of some of the equipment we need, might be computer apps, joysticks or various pieces of technology that helps a child communicate. That’s basically where the money is going. We’re delighted we were picked and delighted with the money raised,” said Sean Scally.

Enable Ireland is one of the charities that is benefiting from ‘The Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle’.

The charity is looking to recruit cyclists for the Ring of Kerry cycle with the ultimate goal of purchasing an adaptable wheelchair accessible minibus for their adult services in Tralee.
