RUMOURS that the UK food giant Iceland are coming to Tralee have jumped up a notch.

Permission has been sought to allow the sale of foodstuffs at the old Kiely’s Electrical unit in the Horan Centre.

Kerry County Council received a request from Donal Horan, to change the current planning conditions.

Rumours of an Iceland store coming to Tralee were first triggered after the job of Iceland Tralee Store Manager was advertised online earlier this year.

A possible location touted for the new Iceland store at the time was the Horan Centre, but when we contacted Mr Horan about the rumours a few weeks ago he said that they were “just speculation”.

At this point there has been no official confirmation from Iceland, who over the past six months have been expanding their operations in Munster.

In total there are eight Iceland outlets nationwide which sell both fresh and frozen food.
