Runners Can Choose Between Two Road Races This Sunday

Some of the trophies up for grabs in the 10k and 5k events in aid of Enable Ireland Kerry in Lyrecrompane on Sunday.

RUNNERS will be spoilt for choice this Sunday, as two runs are taking place north-west and north-east of Tralee and with a good weather forecast there should be a great turnout at both.

The Dan Paddy Andy Festival in Lyreacrompane is on this weekend and as part of it, they are hosting a 5k and 10k run/walk in aid of Enable Ireland Kerry.

It has an 11am starting time and registration takes place from 9am to 10.45am. The cost is as follows;

• 5k walk/run is €10

• 10k walk/run is €15

• Children are €5

In the 1ok race, the first man and woman home will receive €50 each, while there are trophies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th places in both races. All participants will receive a medal. For more call 087-2853570.

For earlier risers on Sunday, the annual Banna Run takes place at 9.30am. This is a 5k and 10k Road Race now in its ninth year with registration closing at 9am.

The entry fees are;

• 10K – €20 (Finisher medal + Goodie bag)

• 5K – €10 (Finisher medal)

Parking available next to registration or at any of the car parks at Banna. Starting line is approx. 500m from registration place so it can be used for warm up walk/jog. 10K Road Race distance is restricted to over 18 only! (AAI permit).

For safety reasons they advise not to wear headphones/mp3 players as main roads will be open for traffic. Marshalls will be posted at every junction. Toilets will be available and are located at Finish line, 100m from Registration. Refreshments after the run in Banna Sea Rescue building.
