Safety Concerns As Storm Damages Part Of Popular Walkway Outside Tralee

THERE have been safety concerns expressed after Storm Eleanor caused damage to a popular walkway just outside Tralee.

The walkway from the Spa to Cockleshell Road is used regularly by leisure walkers, but parts of the underside of the wall have been washed away by the storm.

A local resident contacted TraleeToday.ie with photos. As well as the damage to the wall, the resident said; “The pathway is full of debris which has timber with nails sticking out which was washed up last night and this morning. The council need to close this immediately as it poses an immediate danger.”

Kerry County Council told TraleeToday.ie that signs have now been erected telling people to avoid using the walkway due to the damage.

However, they said the walkway is not in the charge of Kerry County Council and was therefore not in a position to carry out the repair work necessary. Scroll down for photos…
