SITTING councillor Sam Locke has retained his seat on to complete the make up of the Tralee Municipal District of Kerry County Council.

After the 13th count, the independent councillor received enough transfers (105) from the  surplus of Pa Daly, Jim Finucane and Mikey Sheehy to win the seat.

Anne Marie Fuller of the Green Party, in her first election, was there until the end, but couldn’t get enough to overtake Locke.

So the seven councillors elected are, in no particular order, Sam Locke, Independent, Pa Daly of Sinn Fein, Mikey Sheehy of Fianna Fail, Cllr Jim Finucane of Fine Gael, Cllr Toireasa Ferris of Sinn Féin, Norma Foley of Fianna Fáil and Cllr Terry O’Brien of Labour as Tralee area representatives on the Council.

The first meeting of the new Kerry County Council is scheduled for Friday, June 7, while the first Tralee MD meeting — where the new mayor will be selected — will be on Friday, June 14.
