A COUNCILLOR called for a sign to be erected to prevent large trucks going down a road where there is a bridge too narrow for them to pass.

He said satellite navigation systems were directing people driving large vehicles down the road where the bridge is too narrow.

Cllr Daly said on one occasion he had to help direct a truck driver who had to reverse back after realising he couldn’t pass over the bridge.

Apparently a similar situation developed in the past on the road linking the Listowel and Abbeydorney roads at the Forge Cross and a sign forbidding large vehicles had to be erected. The Council in reply said the sign has been ordered and will be installed as soon as possible.
