The Countdown Clock is part of the Christmas Spraoi in Tralee celebrations.

THE final event of the Christmas Spraoi in Tralee will take place at Midnight on Denny Street on New Years Eve when a Countdown Clock will welcome 2016.

Seán Murphy, whose electrical team erected the magnificent Christmas lights over the streets of Tralee, along with Tralee Chamber Alliance and Kerry County Council, has sponsored a Big Screen to help count-in 2016 near the Pikeman Statue on Denny Street.

The screen will be in situ from Thursday afternoon and it will show various promotional videos showcasing all that is positive about Tralee.

Revellers lucky enough to be venturing into Tralee town centre later on December 31 are being encouraged to step out onto Denny Street for a short New Year’s Eve street party commencing at 11.30pm.

When the Countdown Clock rings in the New Year they can then head back into the comfort of their local pubs to continue planning their New Year’s Resolutions over a festive drink.

This event is not to be confused with the earlier fireworks display which will take place from 7pm, also on Denny Street.

Two temporary road closures will be in effect on Denny Street on New Years Eve. The first from 4pm until after the fireworks event; the second from 11pm until 12.15am.

Full details of both events are on the Christmas Spraoi in Tralee and Tralee Chamber Alliance Facebook pages.
