School’s Out So Tír na nÓg Festival Is Back To Bring Fun For Kids

TRALEE will take centre-stage when it comes to celebrating Easter in Kerry when hundreds of children take part in the seventh annual Tír na nÓg Children’s Festival from March 21-28.

A multitude of family-friendly events including egg hunts, Teddy Bears Picnic, Easter- themed camps, Puppet Shows and sightings of the elusive Easter Bunny have been planned to entertain children of all ages at various venues in Tralee.

The President of Tralee Chamber Alliance, John Drummey, said: “Easter in Tralee is a joyous time for children. Tralee is weather-proof all year round and this springtime eggs-travaganza always brings the best out of the town’s tourist attractions, accommodation providers and specialist retailers. We hope that families from home and away enjoy the Easter Holidays in Tralee and we encourage everyone to keep Tralee tidy during the festival.”

Key event locations this year include Tralee Town Park, Tralee Bay Wetlands, Kerry County Museum, The Playdium, Crag Caves, Bowling Buddies, Aqua Dome, Kingdom Greyhound Stadium, Siamsa Tíre Theatre, Tralee Regional Sports and Leisure Centre and Caball Toymaster.

Two key events during this year’s Tír an nÓg Children’s Festival will require pre-registration – Kids Fancy Dress Fun Run on Easter Saturday, sponsored by Garveys Supervalu and a Fun event at The Playdium on Good Friday.

Children under 12 are invited dust off their costumes and register for the Easter Fancy Dress Fun Run in Tralee Town Park on Saturday, March 26.

The event begins from 12pm with a Zumba Warm-up with Linda Flanagan from Zumba Kerry before the run gets underway at 1pm.

Prizes will be awarded to the best costumes while all the children will have a chance to get their faces painted and meet some colourful Disney characters and enjoy a post-run disco. Tickets are only €5 per child (Adults are free), adult supervision is required especially with younger children.

Another great event with lots of prizes will take place at The Playdium, Mile Height, Tralee on Good Friday, March 25, taking place from 11am to 1pm.There will be face-painting, a duck hunt and a raffle. Admission is €5 per child.

Registration forms for both the Easter Fun Run in Tralee Town Park and the Kids Event at The Playdium are available from Tralee Chamber Alliance, 18 Denny Street, Tralee.

Forms must be returned by Thursday 24th and Friday 25th March for events at The Playdium and the Fun Run respectively.
