Schools Receive Funding From Bon Secours Hospital

THERE was tremendous excitement in the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee earlier this month when pupils from six schools received cash prizes for themselves and their schools.

As part of a staff led initiative and in conjunction with the Bon Secours Community Initiative Fund, all primary schools in County Kerry were invited to enter a quiz to be in with a chance to win a €500 cash prize for their school with each winning student receiving a €50 One4all voucher.

The six winning students and schools were Annie O’Reilly, Caherleaheen National School Tralee, Meaghan Kennelly, Dromclough National School, Listowel, Kyle O’Donovan, Scoil Namoh Eoin Baiste, Lispole, Grace Heffernan, Gaelscoil Lios Tuathail, Laura Coffey, Scoil Mhuire agus Naomh Treasa, Currow and Isobel Dennehy, Holy Cross Mercy School, Killarney.

Teachers, principals, the winning students and their families gathered to receive their prizes which were presented by Kerry GAA star, Kieran Donaghy.

Hospital Manager, Mr TJ O’Connor thanked Kieran for giving freely of his time in lieu of a donation to his chosen charity. The Bon Secours Hospital Tralee is a not for profit organisation and Mr O’Connor added that ‘For us, in the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee, it begins and ends with our community, our neighbours, our friends and family members and of course, our schools are at the very heart of our community”

Teachers and Principals expressed their thanks to the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee with prize money already being earmarked for PE equipment, books and iPads.
