KERRY GAA stars David Clifford and Paudie Clifford visited Tralee Boxing Club on Saturday to launch a fundraising spinathon to buy a defibrillator for the local area.

Seamus O’Mahony, a coach at the club, is taking on the spinathon at Manor West (outside Tesco) on Saturday, November 5, where he will ‘spin’ for 10 hours, from 9am to 7pm.

The aim is to buy the life-saving equipment, training on first aid, and instruction on how to use the equipment  purchased.

“Seamus is one of our hard-working coaches at Tralee Boxing club, and not only does he volunteer his time several times a week to train the boxing classes, but he also cycles hundreds of kilometres each week,” said Lynda McGrath of Tralee Boxing Club.

“He has been with the Boxing club since the age of 11 and has always been involved in some aspect of club life. He had the idea to cycle for 10 hours to fundraise for this life-saving equipment, and he feels it’s essential to be able to protect the people at the club from harm,” said Lynda.

As a part of this fundraiser, the club will give a percentage of the monies received to two different charities. The Irish Heart Foundation and Banna Rescue.

The club will also enter everyone who donates into a draw for some very generous prizes that donated to the club by local businesses.

The club will have a stand set up near the entrance to Tesco in Manor West to accept donations on the day. To donate online, check out their gofundme page here.
