VISITORS to the Lock Gates at Lohercannan will have noticed the new landscaped area adjacent to the car park which was constructed in the autumn.
The work there is not complete though and there are plans to install five picnic bench/seating areas and a cycle rack.
Works on the amenity area followed a successful application for Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme funding of €20,000.

The centrepiece is a stone mooring from the canal (which was dislodged at some point previously) that was found in the area when works commenced.
The seating will give walkers and visitors a place to sit down and enjoy the spectacular views of Tralee Bay or to rest before continuing their walk to the Spa when that walkway is extended in the future.
